Playgroup Compatibility Matcher
Takes your notes on each dog booked for the day and sorts them into playgroups based on size, play style, energy, and any behavior notes you have written down.
Before and after
Thursday playgroups, Dawnton Dog Lodge
Big Yard (Russell Keith supervising, limit 6)
- Moose: calm, slow sniffer, fits with mellow dogs.
- Gouda: likes short wrestling with calm dogs and gets winded fast, so he fits with Moose and Bagel.
- Bagel: mellow and follows the pack, a good fit with Moose and Gouda.
Small Yard (Sally Leblanc supervising, limit 4)
- Ziggurat: gentle and a little shy with big dogs, so a smaller group is a better fit.
- Pomegranate: plays well with small dogs, and nervous around fast dogs, so she is kept away from Pickle.
Solo or one-on-one time
- Pickle: fast chaser with high energy. Our notes do not say she does well with the older or shy dogs in either yard, so we recommend one-on-one time with Sandra Marsh for now.
- Tuxedo: herds and nips at heels when excited. The notes do not say he does well in a group, so we recommend one-on-one play time with Sandra Marsh, or a supervised short session with Moose only, if the owner approves.
- Waffles: owner says solo only. Not placed in any group.
Needs evaluation first
- Biscotti: no evaluation on file. We recommend a temperament evaluation before joining any group. Until then, solo or one-on-one time.
Flags
- Tuxedo's nipping: the manager should decide whether he joins any group. For ongoing behavior concerns, we recommend talking to a certified trainer.
- Pickle's high energy: we recommend keeping her away from older and shy dogs unless staff see they do well together.
- Big Yard has 3 dogs and Small Yard has 2 dogs. Both are under their limits. Nine dogs total: 3 in Big Yard, 2 in Small Yard, 4 solo or waiting (Pickle, Tuxedo, Waffles, Biscotti).
Questions for the owner
- Do you want Tuxedo to try the Big Yard with Moose, or stay solo today?
- Do you want Pickle to try a group with staff watching, or stay with one-on-one time today?
- Should Biscotti be evaluated today, and who will do it?
- Is Sandra Marsh free for both solo dogs and evaluation time, or do you need another person?
What it does
Takes your notes on each dog booked for the day and sorts them into playgroups based on size, play style, energy, and any behavior notes you have written down. It gives you a proposed group list, the reasons for each placement, and a list of dogs that need to stay in solo or one-on-one time.
Use it when: Use when a pet boarding or daycare business needs to sort dogs into playgroups or decide who can safely play together, such as "who goes in which yard," "match these dogs for playgroup," or "is this dog ready for group play."
