Kennel and Run Assignment Planner
Takes your list of incoming pets and your list of available kennels and runs, then proposes a placement for every pet based on size, temperament, and special needs.
Before and after
Weekend run plan, Robinmont Pet Lodge (Friday to Sunday)
Prepared for Lynn Nowak. Staff on duty: Manuel Sato and Marcia Singh.
| Pet | Run | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fennimore (18 lb, nervous) | S3 | S3 is the quietest small run, and Fennimore shakes around loud barking. Owner is Luke Mercer. |
| Truffle (9 lb, barker) | S1 | Small run, kept away from S3 with S2 left between them so the barking is not right next to Fennimore. |
| Gus (70 lb, friendly) | L1 | Large run. Gus has no issues, so he is a fit for a run that shares a wall with L2. |
| Odalys (95 lb, medication, overheats) | L2 | L2 is nearest the office, so staff can check on her often and give her twice daily pill with food. Owner is Mabel Pearce. |
| Bramwell (62 lb, reactive to dogs) | L4 | L4 is at the quiet end by the back door. We recommend this because his owner, Madeline Reddy, asked that no dogs face him. |
| Pickle (cat, shy) | C1 | Cat room condo, away from the dogs. Litter box needed. |
Flags
- Odalys is booked Friday to Monday, while the others leave Sunday. Her run stays hers through Monday. No move is needed based on what you gave me.
- Bramwell is reactive to other dogs. L3 is the run sharing a wall with L4, so we recommend leaving L3 empty this weekend. Staff should confirm that is workable for your bookings.
- Gus in L1 shares a wall with Odalys in L2. Neither has a noted problem with other dogs.
- No dog is placed face to face with another in the runs as you described them. If the building layout puts any runs across from each other, tell me and I will recheck.
Pets not placed: none.
Questions for the owner
- Do L3 and L4 face any other run, so I can confirm nothing faces Bramwell?
- Where should Odalys's cooling be handled (fan, cooler run, or other)? You noted she overheats but did not say what you do for that.
- Does Pickle need anything besides a litter box, such as a hiding spot?
- Which number should staff call about this plan? I only have 319-555-0120 listed for questions.
What it does
Takes your list of incoming pets and your list of available kennels and runs, then proposes a placement for every pet based on size, temperament, and special needs. It explains each placement in a line or two so staff can follow it and change it if they know something the plan does not.
Use it when: Use when a pet boarding business needs to assign incoming dogs and cats to kennels or runs based on size, temperament, and special needs, such as: plan the runs for this weekend, where do I put these dogs, assign kennels, or who goes next to whom.
