Repair Status Update for Customers
Turns the shop's rough notes on a collision repair into a clear, honest update the customer can read in under a minute.
Before and after
Hi Hannah, this is Plumdale Collision with an update on your silver 2010 Honda Pilot. The repair is moving along, with two things we are waiting on.
Done
- The right quarter panel is repaired and primed.
- The new rear bumper cover arrived Monday.
Happening now
- The quarter panel goes into our paint booth tomorrow.
Waiting on
- Right tail lamp: it is back ordered. The supplier estimates Thursday of next week, but that date is not confirmed.
- Extra damage: when we removed the bumper, Harold Kirby found a bent bracket behind the bumper reinforcement. We recommend repairing it. We sent the added cost to your insurance adjuster on Tuesday and have not heard back yet. We cannot start that work until it is approved.
What we need from you: if you want to check on the approval, you can also contact your adjuster. Let us know if you hear anything first.
We do not have a pickup date yet. We will text you as soon as we can confirm one.

Questions for the owner
- Is the Pilot safe to drive while it waits on the bracket and tail lamp? The notes do not say.
- Do you want to name a pickup date range once the paint is done, or keep waiting for the parts?
What it does
Turns the shop's rough notes on a collision repair into a clear, honest update the customer can read in under a minute. It covers what is done, what is happening now, what is next, and what is holding things up.
Use it when: Use when a body shop needs to write a repair status update for a customer, such as "send her an update on her car," "where are we on this repair," "text the customer about the delay," or "let them know the parts are in."
