Before and after

BEFORE · what the owner typed
Finchview Carpet Care, we're doing a job for David Rivas at 2574 Eastview Rd, Wrenhill. Booked for living room, hallway, and main bedroom. Our rules: we move ordinary furniture that one or two people can lift safely, like chairs, side tables, nightstands, and light dressers with the drawers emptied. We don't move pianos, waterbed frames, big china cabinets, entertainment centers with the TV in them, or anything bolted down. We don't touch anything on top of a surface, customer clears that. Anything left in place, we clean around it. Crew lead is Deborah Schmidt, she'll walk it with him. Living room: sectional sofa (2 pieces), glass top coffee table, a Zenith tube TV on a stand, a floor lamp, a big china cabinet, a bunch of picture frames on the side table. Hallway: nothing but a runner and a small bench. Main bedroom: queen bed with a wood frame, two nightstands, a dresser with a mirror, a bookcase full of books, and a grandfather clock his father made. Mr. Rivas said the clock has never been moved. Noticed a scorch mark on the carpet by the bedroom window and the coffee table has a chip in one corner. He said he'll take the picture frames and books off himself.
AFTER · what the skill produced

Furniture Moving Checklist
Customer: David Rivas, 2574 Eastview Rd, Wrenhill
Company: Finchview Carpet Care
Rooms: Living room, hallway, main bedroom
Crew lead: Deborah Schmidt

Our moving rules
We move ordinary furniture that one or two people can lift safely, like chairs, side tables, nightstands, and light dressers with the drawers emptied. We do not move pianos, waterbed frames, big china cabinets, entertainment centers with the TV in them, or anything bolted down. We do not touch items on top of a surface, so the customer clears those. Anything left in place, we clean around it.

Living room
Crew will move:

  • Sectional sofa (2 pieces)
  • Floor lamp, once Mr. Rivas has unplugged it
  • Side table, once the picture frames are removed

Stays in place:

  • Big china cabinet, because our rules say we do not move big china cabinets
  • Zenith tube TV on its stand, because our rules say we do not move entertainment centers with the TV in them

Customer to clear first:

  • Picture frames on the side table (Mr. Rivas will remove them)
  • Floor lamp and Zenith tube TV: please unplug them before the crew arrives. The crew does not disconnect wiring.

Needs a decision:

  • Glass top coffee table. Our rules do not cover glass tops. We recommend the customer decide whether the crew moves it or leaves it in place.

Hallway
Crew will move:

  • Small bench

Nothing else is in the hallway besides the runner.

Main bedroom
Crew will move:

  • Queen bed with wood frame, if it is not bolted down. The crew lead will check at the walk-through.
  • Two nightstands
  • Dresser with mirror, once the drawers are emptied. The crew lead will confirm it is light enough for one or two people.

Customer to clear first:

  • Books on the bookcase (Mr. Rivas will remove them)

Needs a decision:

  • Bookcase. Our rules do not say how to handle a bookcase once it is emptied. Please decide whether the crew moves it or leaves it in place.
  • Grandfather clock. Our rules do not cover it, and Mr. Rivas said it has never been moved. Mr. Rivas to decide whether the crew moves it or leaves it in place.

Fragile and valuable items

  • Grandfather clock, main bedroom, made by Mr. Rivas's father and never moved before: decision needed (move or leave)
  • Glass top coffee table, living room: decision needed (move or leave)
  • Zenith tube TV, living room: left in place on its stand
  • Big china cabinet, living room: left in place
  • Picture frames, living room side table: removed by the customer

Existing condition noted before work

  • Scorch mark on the carpet by the main bedroom window
  • Chip in one corner of the coffee table

Left in place
The china cabinet and Zenith TV stand stay where they are. We clean around them.

Questions for the owner

  • Is there a fee for moving the coffee table or bookcase, or any extra moving?
  • Should we tell Mr. Rivas that the carpet under the left-in-place items will not be cleaned?
  • Is there a way you want the scorch mark described to the customer, such as whether you can treat it?

What it does

Takes the owner's furniture moving rules and the details of one job, then produces a clear room-by-room list of what the crew will move, what stays in place, and which fragile or valuable items need care or a customer decision. It gives the customer and the crew the same written record before work begins.

Use it when: Use when a carpet cleaning company needs to decide what furniture it will and will not move before a job, and to record fragile items and pre-existing condition before work starts, such as "what do we move," "furniture policy for this job," "fragile item checklist," or "write up what we moved and what we left."
