Sick Child Policy Notice for Parents
Turns your notes about an illness going around your daycare into a clear, calm notice for parents.
Before and after
Subject: Stomach illness in the toddler room, March 11
Dear Pebblewick families,
A stomach illness is going around our toddler room. So far this week, 4 children have been out sick. We want you to know what is happening and what we are asking of every family.
Our sick child policy:
- A child with vomiting or diarrhea stays home.
- A child may return after being symptom free for 24 hours.
- A doctor's note is not needed, unless your child was out more than 3 days. In that case, we ask for a note before they return.
- If your child becomes sick at the center, we will call you, and we ask that you pick up within one hour.
What we are doing:
- We are cleaning toys and tables with bleach every day after we close.
- Our teachers are washing hands more often.
What we need from you:
- Please keep your child home if they have any vomiting or diarrhea.
- Please call our front desk at 402-555-0130 to report your child's symptoms.
- Please answer our call quickly and be ready to pick up if your child is sent home.
- If you have questions about your child's health, please ask your child's doctor.
If you have questions about the toddler room, you can speak with our toddler room lead, Dominga Zamora. Thank you for helping us keep every child at Pebblewick Little Learners as healthy as we can.
Warmly,
Delia Vance

Questions for the owner
- Do you want to name the illness once it is confirmed, or keep it as "stomach illness"?
- Do you offer any credit or refund for days a child is out sick?
- Who should parents call after hours?
What it does
Turns your notes about an illness going around your daycare into a clear, calm notice for parents. It explains what is happening, restates your own sick child policy, and tells parents what you need from them.
Use it when: Use when a daycare needs to write a notice to parents about an illness spreading at the center, such as "write a sick policy notice," "tell parents about the stomach bug," "draft an illness letter," or "remind parents about our exclusion rules."
