Before and after

BEFORE · what the owner typed
Customer is Margaret Jimenez, 7515 Frostfield St, Coralcrest. She wants: hang 3 shelves in the hall closet, fix the sticking back door, replace the kitchen faucet she bought (a Grohe Essence, she has it). While I was there I saw the bathroom caulk around the tub is black and pulling away, and the hallway smoke detector chirps. Also the water is dripping under the kitchen sink from the supply line, that's actively wet. She mentioned the garage outlet by the freezer sparks sometimes. My rate is 65 an hour. Shelves 1.5 hrs, back door 1 hr, faucet 1.5 hrs (the faucet job includes replacing the supply line, 20 dollars for the new line), caulk 1 hr plus 12 dollars caulk, smoke detector battery swap 0.25 hr, I have the battery. Trip charge is 40 dollars if separate visits, waived if it's all one visit. I can come Tuesday or Thursday. Business is Harrowfield Handyman Services, 234-555-0128. I'm Marshall Lyons.
AFTER · what the skill produced

Hi Margaret,

Thanks for having me out to 7515 Frostfield St. Here is how I suggest we group the work so it all gets done in one trip. This is Marshall Lyons with Harrowfield Handyman Services.

Visit 1: everything in one trip (Tuesday or Thursday, your choice)

Jobs you asked for:

  1. Replace the kitchen faucet with your Grohe Essence, including the new supply line: 1.5 hrs
  2. Fix the sticking back door: 1 hr
  3. Hang 3 shelves in the hall closet: 1.5 hrs

I would start with the faucet, since it is in the same spot as the leak described below.

Safety concern, recommended now

  • Hallway smoke detector is chirping. We recommend swapping the battery now: 0.25 hr, battery provided by me.

Recommended now

  • Water dripping under the kitchen sink from the supply line. It is actively wet, so we recommend fixing it during the faucet job. The new supply line is already included in the faucet price, so there is no extra labor for this.

Also recommended

  • Bathroom tub caulk is black and pulling away from the tub. We recommend removing and replacing it: 1 hr plus 12 dollars for caulk.

Needs a licensed professional

  • The garage outlet by the freezer that sparks sometimes. I am not pricing or advising on this one. We recommend having a licensed electrician look at it as soon as possible.

Pricing (at 65 dollars an hour)
| Job | Hours | Labor | Materials | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Faucet install and supply line | 1.5 | $97.50 | $20.00 | $117.50 |
| Back door fix | 1.0 | $65.00 | $0.00 | $65.00 |
| Closet shelves (3) | 1.5 | $97.50 | $0.00 | $97.50 |
| Smoke detector battery | 0.25 | $16.25 | $0.00 | $16.25 |
| Tub caulk | 1.0 | $65.00 | $12.00 | $77.00 |

Total for all five jobs in one visit: $373.25. The 40 dollar trip charge is waived because it is all one visit.

If you only approve the three jobs you originally asked for, the total is $280.00 (faucet $117.50, door $65.00, shelves $97.50). Because the supply line is part of the faucet job, the leak is covered in that price.

Please let me know which items you would like me to do and which day works. You can reach me at 234-555-0128.

Questions for the owner

  • Do you want the bathroom caulk and smoke detector listed with a time estimate for the customer, or only the price?
  • Do you want to mention a preferred start time for Tuesday or Thursday?

What it does

Reads the jobs a customer has asked for, plus anything you noticed while on site, and groups them into sensible visits. It also suggests related add-on jobs the customer may want done in the same trip, written in a way the customer can say yes or no to.

Use it when: Use when a handyman needs to look at a customer's request, quote, or job list and suggest sensible add-on or combined jobs, such as: bundle these jobs, what else could I do while I'm there, group these repairs into one visit, or suggest extra work for this customer.
