Before and after

BEFORE · what the owner typed
ok so just saw Greta today, session 2. she's 44, just got promoted to team lead at a insurance office, hybrid 3 days in. says she feels frumpy in meetings. we did closet edit, found she has like 6 tops she loves, lots of beige/grey cardigans she's bored of. colors we landed on: deep teal, plum, warm cream, charcoal. she hates tucking in. likes blazers if they're soft. budget is tight till spring, maybe $150 total, her number. next session is Mar 18, today is Feb 18 so 4 weeks. she said she has maybe 30 min a week, more on Sundays. wants photos check-in by text. dont want her buying anything first 2 weeks.
AFTER · what the skill produced

Hi Greta,

Great work today. Here are four small tasks to carry us to our next session on March 18. Each one should fit in about 30 minutes or less. Text me a photo or a line when you finish, and tell me if a week gets away from you. We will just adjust.

Week 1: Pull your favorites
Task: Gather the 6 tops you love and see how they work together.
Steps:

  1. Hang the 6 tops together in one spot in your closet.
  2. Pair each one with a bottom and a layer you already own.
  3. Photograph your three favorite combinations.
    Time: About 30 minutes
Bring back: Text me the three photos.
Stretch: Try one combination with a different pair of shoes.

Week 2: Retire or rest the beige and grey cardigans
Task: Sort the cardigans you are bored of.
Steps:

  1. Try on each cardigan once.
  2. Make three piles: keep, maybe, and let go.
  3. Put the "let go" pile in a bag by the door. No need to donate it yet.
Time: About 20 to 30 minutes
Bring back: Tell me how many are in each pile.
Reminder: No shopping yet. We are working with what you have.

Week 3: Try your colors
Task: Wear one of your new colors (deep teal, plum, warm cream, or charcoal) near your face on an office day.
Steps:

  1. Pick a top, scarf, or layer in one of those colors.
  2. Wear it to work on one of your three office days.
  3. Notice how you feel in the first meeting and write down one sentence.
Time: Getting dressed as usual, plus 2 minutes to write
Bring back: One sentence about how it felt, and a photo if you like.
Stretch: Wear a second color on another office day.

Week 4: Build a short wish list
Task: Plan any purchases, without having to buy.
Steps:

  1. Think about which soft blazer shape and which untucked top would fill gaps in your outfits.
  2. Write a list of up to three items, in priority order, with a color for each.
  3. Next to each, note how much you would be comfortable spending. Keep the total within the number you shared with me.
Time: About 30 minutes, Sunday is fine
Bring back: Text me the list.
Optional: If you want to shop before our session, check each store's return policy yourself first.

Greta, you already own more good pieces than you thought. For March 18, please bring your three favorite photos, your list, and the cardigan "keep" pile. See you then.
