Car Key and Fob Job Notes to Customer Explanation
Turns your job notes for a car key or fob job into a clear, honest explanation the customer can understand.
Before and after
Hi Yara,
This is Wendell Fields from Brightshire Lock and Key. Thank you for having us out to your place on Aspenshire St. You asked us to replace your lost key on the 2015 Subaru Outback, and that is done.
What we did
- Cut a new key blade from your door lock, so it fits your car.
- Made a new transponder key and programmed it. That means the car's computer now recognizes the key, so it will start the car.
- Programmed a new fob so you can lock and unlock the car with the buttons.
- Tested the key by starting the car and tested every fob button. Everything works. The trunk button did not register at first, and it worked after we reprogrammed the fob.
- Your old fob had a dead battery, but that fob is gone, so it is not part of this job.
What works now
- 1 key and 1 fob are programmed to your Outback.
- We erased your lost key from the car, so it will not start the car anymore, even if someone finds it.
- As far as you know, there were no other copies of the old key.
Charges
- Key and programming: $165
- Fob: $95
- Trip fee: $40
- Total: $300, paid by card

Questions for the owner
- You mentioned a note about the key blade being cut tight, then crossed it out. Should anything about the key blade be included for the customer?
- Do you want a warranty or follow-up policy stated for the new key and fob, and if so, what are the terms?
- The notes give no care points for the customer. Do you want to add any, such as testing the trunk button now and then, or whether you recommend a spare key since she had none?
