Before and after

BEFORE · what the owner typed
agency is Rosegate Creative, 4130 Quailgate Ave Finchcroft, 262-555-0112. I'm Avery Lund, account lead. client = Sandgate Hardware, 3751 Pebblegate St Finchcroft, phone 262-555-0113. on call: Basil Medina (owner, he signs off on everything), Bethany Pacheco (store manager, runs their social), Blake Rahman from our side for design. Notes: their site is old, customers say it's a pain on phones, no way to order online. Basil wants online ordering for in-store pickup ONLY, no shipping. they carry about 1,800 products but he only wants the top 250 on at launch. wants it live before spring sale which starts Mar 15. budget is 9k max, Basil said 'not a penny more'. Bethany posts 3x a week on social and wants to keep doing that herself, no social management from us. customers are mostly local homeowners and a few contractors. they have a domain already, not sure who has the login. Basil maybe wants a logo refresh, undecided. big box store across town is the main worry. I said I'd send the brief to Basil to confirm. Blake to look at the current site before next call.
AFTER · what the skill produced

Project: New website with online ordering for in-store pickup, for Sandgate Hardware

Prepared by: Avery Lund, account lead, Rosegate Creative, 4130 Quailgate Ave, Finchcroft, 262-555-0112. Design: Blake Rahman.

Client contacts

  • Basil Medina, owner. Signs off on everything.
  • Bethany Pacheco, store manager. Runs the store's social media.
  • Business: Sandgate Hardware, 3751 Pebblegate St, Finchcroft, 262-555-0113

Background: Sandgate Hardware's current website is old. Customers say it is hard to use on phones, and it has no way to order online. The client's main concern is the big box store across town.

Goals: Let customers order online for in-store pickup. Give customers a website that works well on phones.

Audience: Mostly local homeowners and a few contractors.

Scope

  • New website that works on phones
  • Online ordering for in-store pickup only
  • Top 250 products loaded at launch (out of about 1,800 carried)

Not included or not decided

  • Shipping: the client does not want it. Pickup only.
  • Social media management: not wanted. Bethany Pacheco will keep posting 3 times a week herself.
  • Logo refresh: Basil Medina is undecided. Not confirmed.
  • The other roughly 1,550 products (1,800 minus 250): not part of launch. Whether and when they are added was not discussed.

Timeline: Live before the spring sale, which starts March 15.

Budget: $9,000 maximum. Basil Medina said it is a firm ceiling.

Existing assets and accounts: The client already owns a domain name. Who holds the login is not known.

Success measures: None were given on the call.

Next steps

  • Avery Lund: send this brief to Basil Medina to confirm.
  • Blake Rahman: review the current site before the next call.

Questions for the owner

  • What day should the website be ready, so there is time to test before March 15?
  • Does Sandgate Hardware already have a way to take card payments online, or does one need to be set up?
  • Who writes or supplies the product descriptions and photos for the 250 launch products?
  • Who has the domain login?
  • What would Basil Medina count as success after launch (for example, number of pickup orders)?
  • Is the $9,000 for the whole project, and does it include any ongoing costs after launch?

What it does

Turns messy notes from a first client call into a one-document project brief the client can confirm and your team can work from. It keeps what the client actually said separate from what is still unknown.

Use it when: Use when a marketing agency needs to turn discovery call notes, voice memo transcripts, or scribbled meeting notes into a clear project brief, such as: write up the brief, turn my call notes into a brief, or summarize what the client wants.
