AFTER · what the skill produced

Hi Cynthia,

Thanks for bringing your bike in to Brightworth Cycle Repair. Curtis Tate went through it from front to back after its winter in the garage. Here is what he found.

Done today

  • Oil and filter change: $74.00
  • Fuel service: the old fuel had gone stale and smelled like varnish, so we drained the tank, added fresh fuel, and installed a new fuel filter: $96.00
  • Cleaned a mouse nest out of the airbox. Curtis saw no chewed wires.
  • Aired up both tires, which were low
  • Lubed and adjusted the chain
Done today total: $170.00 (oil change and fuel service)

Safety concern, recommended now

  • Rear tire replacement, installed: $232.00. The sidewall is cracked all the way around. We recommend replacing it because that is the tire your bike's grip and stability depend on.
    Group total: $232.00

Recommended now

  • New battery: $128.00. The battery read 11.9 volts and failed its load test, so we recommend replacing it to keep the bike starting reliably.
    Group total: $128.00

Also recommended

  • Front brake pads: they measured 4mm. Curtis did not give a recommendation on them, so we will confirm with him whether he recommends replacing them.
  • Brake fluid flush: $89.00. The fluid is dark, and we recommend flushing it to protect your braking system.
  • Chain and sprocket set: $315.00. The chain was dry and rusty, and a few links are stiff even after lubing. We recommend replacing the chain and sprockets together.
    Group total: $404.00

Total of all recommended items: $764.00

Checked and good

  • Front tire, rear brake pads, lights and signals, coolant, cables and throttle

Your battery tender was sitting unplugged in the garage. Once the new battery is in, keeping the tender connected during storage is a good way to look after it.

You can approve everything, or only the items you choose, and we will total it up for you. If you decide to decline an item, we will note that it was your decision. Call us at 402-555-0176 with any questions.

  • Does Curtis recommend replacing the front brake pads at 4mm, and if so, what is the price?
  • What are the bike's year, make, model, and mileage?
  • Is there a pickup time or a deadline you want to give the customer?
