Weekly Practice Plan
Turns your lesson notes into a clear, day-by-day practice plan a student and parent can follow at home.
Before and after
Hi Abigail and Zahra,
Here is Zahra's practice plan for the week before our next lesson on Thursday, March 13. This week's focus is steadying the left hand in Minuet in G.
Priorities this week
- Minuet in G, bars 9 to 16
- Dragon Dance, first line
- C major scale, hands separate, 2 octaves
Daily plan (20 minutes, Monday to Friday)
- Scale warm-up, 5 minutes: C major, hands separate, 2 octaves
- Minuet in G, 10 minutes: bars 9 to 16
- Dragon Dance, 5 minutes: first line
Every day follows the same pattern, so Zahra always knows what comes next. That is 5 + 10 + 5 = 20 minutes.
How to practice
- Minuet in G: The left hand keeps rushing, so I recommend Zahra plays the left hand alone in bars 9 to 16 first, slowly. Then put the hands together at the same slow speed.
- Dragon Dance: She has only the first line so far. I recommend playing it a few times through and enjoying it. Her rhythm was great in the lesson.
- C major scale: Hands separate, 2 octaves, nice and even.
For our next lesson
Please have Minuet in G, the C major scale, and the first line of Dragon Dance ready to play.
Zahra, your rhythm in Dragon Dance was great. Keep that up!

What it does
Turns your lesson notes into a clear, day-by-day practice plan a student and parent can follow at home. It keeps the plan short enough to actually get done and tied to what you taught in the lesson.
Use it when: Use when a music teacher needs to turn lesson notes into a weekly practice plan for a student or parent, such as: write up a practice plan, what should Zahra work on this week, or send home practice notes.
