Color Consultation Notes
Turns a painter's rough notes from a color consultation into a clear written summary the customer can keep.
Before and after
Hi Maureen,
Thank you for having me out to 8273 Grovefield St today. Here is a summary of what we talked about so you have it all in one place.
Chosen
- Living room walls: Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter HC-172, eggshell finish. You said it goes well with your oak floors and gray sectional.
- Hallway walls: Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter HC-172, flat finish.
- Ceilings throughout: flat white.
Still deciding
- Living room trim: choosing between Benjamin Moore Simply White and Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace, both in satin finish. I will put a sample patch of each on the wall by the window on Thursday so you can see them in your own light.
- Kitchen cabinets: Sherwin-Williams Rookwood Dark Green, satin finish. You like the dark green but are not sure yet, and want to see it next to your counters before deciding.
- Powder room: you are thinking about a deep blue, but no color has been picked.
Next steps
- Thursday: I will put the two white trim samples on the living room wall by the window.
- Once you have decided, I will send you a quote. No prices have been discussed yet.
If you have any questions in the meantime, call me anytime at 234-555-0130.

Questions for the owner
- What is the date of Thursday's sample visit, so we can put it in the message?
- What are the color codes for Simply White, Chantilly Lace, and Rookwood Dark Green?
- Which sheen should be used for the powder room, once a color is picked?
- Do you want to bring a sample of the Rookwood Dark Green for the kitchen to the same Thursday visit?
What it does
Turns a painter's rough notes from a color consultation into a clear written summary the customer can keep. It records each room, the colors chosen or still under consideration, the finish, and what happens next, so nothing gets lost between the visit and the job.
Use it when: Use when a painter needs to turn rough notes from an in-home color consultation into a clean written summary for the customer, such as "write up my color consult notes," "send the customer what we picked," or "summarize the paint colors we talked about."
