Turns the details of an emergency call into short, clear text messages that tell the customer what to do right now to limit water damage and stay safe until the plumber arrives.
Before and after
Text 1 of 3
Hi Imani, this is Ignacio Elliott with Glenridge Plumbing and Drain. I'm on my way to 8207 Fallowridge Rd and should be there in about 25 minutes. I'll be in a silver 2014 Chrysler Pacifica. You can reach us at 319-555-0174.
Safety first, please:
- Stay out of the kitchen. Water is dripping from the ceiling light fixture, so do not touch the light, switches, or outlets.
- If the ceiling looks like it is sagging or you feel unsafe, leave the house and call a licensed electrician, your utility, or emergency services.
- Keep Pickle Bean out of the wet area.

Next, please shut off the water if you can do it safely without going through the kitchen:
- Go to the garage and find the main shutoff by the water heater.
- Turn a wheel handle clockwise until it stops. If it is a lever, turn it a quarter turn so the handle crosses the pipe.
- If you cannot find it or it will not turn, do not force it. Text me back at 319-555-0174 and I will take care of it when I arrive.
Please do not try to repair the pipe yourself.

While you wait:
- If it is safe and dry where you are standing, move the pile of photo albums and the Zenith Aria 7 stand mixer away from the water.
- Use towels or buckets to contain water on the floor, away from any electrical items.
- Take photos of the damage for your records.
- Please do not run hot water, the dishwasher, or the washing machine until I have checked the system.
Please leave the garage and the path to the kitchen clear. I will text you if my arrival time changes. See you soon.
Questions for the owner
- Is there a second shutoff, such as one for the upstairs bathroom, that you want the customer to try?
- Do you want to say anything about payment or how work will be approved when you arrive?
