Before and after
Quarryvale Plumbing, Service Report
Customer: Valerie Wall
Property: 3136 Olivevale St, Owlhill
Technician: Tobias Swanson
Hi Ms. Wall, thank you for calling us about the kitchen sink and washer standpipe backing up. Here is what we found and what we did.
Your complaint: Both drains had been slow for weeks. Your main line is now flowing again after today's work.
What we did: Tobias cleaned your main sewer line using a cable machine, working from the cleanout in your front yard. He pulled out a large amount of roots and got the line flowing. After that, he ran a camera through the line to see its condition.
What the camera showed (distances are from the cleanout):
- 0 to 22 feet: The pipe is clay and looked clean.
- 23 feet: Roots were growing in through a joint. They were light to moderate. We cut them back.
- 41 feet: A joint is offset by about half the thickness of the pipe wall, and roots are starting to grow in at that spot.
- 58 feet: There is a belly, a low spot in the pipe, about 6 feet long where water was standing. The camera could see through it.
- 75 feet to the city tap: This section looked okay.
- We saw no cracks in the line.
Recommended now
- Offset joint at 41 feet with roots starting to enter. We recommend a spot repair at this joint, because roots are already getting in at the offset.
Also recommended
- Roots at 23 feet. They were light to moderate, and we cut them today. We recommend hydro jetting to clean the roots out of the line more thoroughly.
- The belly at 58 feet. Standing water sits in a low spot about 6 feet long. We recommend a locate and a look at the slope of the pipe, because we do not know yet whether it will cause trouble.
Checked and good
- The clay pipe from 0 to 22 feet, the section from 75 feet to the city tap, and no cracks seen anywhere in the line.
Video: We saved the camera video and can email it to you.
Next steps: We have not priced the jetting or the spot repair yet. Please call us at 336-555-0126 and we will go over the options with you. Any item you decide to decline or put off, we will note as your decision.
Questions for the owner
- What is the price for hydro jetting and for the spot repair at 41 feet?
- What email address should we send the video to?
- Do you want to offer a locate and slope check for the belly, and at what price?
