AFTER · what the skill produced

Hi Irina,

Thank you for sending your files for the 250 trifold brochures (8.5 x 11). We reviewed all three and found 5 things to fix before we can print. Here they are, with the ones that will stop the job first.

  1. brochure_outside.pdf: no bleed. Our requirement is 0.125 inch of bleed on all sides. Without it, a thin white edge can show where the paper is trimmed. To fix it, extend your background color or images past the edge of the page by 0.125 inch and export again. We can add the bleed for you for $15 for this file if you would like us to. Just tell us yes.

  2. brochure_inside.pdf: fonts are not embedded. If the fonts are missing on our computer, they will be swapped for different ones and your layout can change. Please export again with the fonts embedded or turned into outlines.

  3. brochure_inside.pdf: the photo on the center panel is 72 dpi. Our minimum for photos is 300 dpi. At the size you placed it, it will likely look soft or blocky in print. Please send a higher resolution version of the photo, or make it smaller on the page.

  4. brochure_outside.pdf: the color mode is RGB. Our requirement is CMYK. Printing from RGB can make colors, especially bright ones, look different from your screen. Please convert the file to CMYK and export again.

  5. brochure_outside.pdf: text sits 0.1 inch from the edge. Our safe margin is 0.25 inch, so we recommend moving the text in so it is not at risk of being trimmed off or looking cramped at the edge.

Files that look good: logo_final.png is 300 dpi with a transparent background, so it is ready to use.

To send new files, email them to prepress@juniperglenprint.example. We need them by Friday. Your proof will be ready 2 days after we receive good files. If you have questions, call us at 262-555-0138 or visit us at 4705 Groveglen St, Pebblecroft.

  • Should the message mention the shop's hours for drop-off or phone support?

What it does

Use it when: Use when a print shop needs to write clear file prep instructions for a customer whose artwork is not ready to print, such as: "tell them how to fix their file," "write up what's wrong with this artwork," or "send the customer file requirements."
