Door script
- Introduction: "Hi, I'm Lana Moon with Lindenridge Roofing here in Ivyglen. We're visiting neighbors on this street after the hailstorm."
- The offer: "We're offering a free roof look with photos and a written estimate, and there's nothing to sign."
- Permission: "Would it be all right if we looked at your roof from the ground, and then up on the roof if you say yes?"
- If no: "No problem at all, thanks for your time. Here's our flyer in case you want to call us at 319-555-0180."
Laszlo Myers uses the same script. Say "I'm Laszlo Myers" in the introduction. Mention the silver Nissan Altima with the Lindenridge magnet parked nearby so neighbors can see who we are.
If they ask
- Is it free? Yes, the roof look, photos, and written estimate are at no charge.
- Do I have to sign anything? No, nothing to sign to get the look.
- Will you work with my insurance? We don't deal with insurance directly. Please call your own insurance company with any claim questions.
- Are you licensed and insured? Ask the owner.
- How big was the hail? Ask the owner. Do not guess.
Never say
- "You have hail damage" before looking.
- "Insurance will cover it."
- "You need to decide today."
- That the roof is fine without an inspection.
- Anything about a license or insurance until the owner confirms the wording.
Confirm with the City of Ivyglen whether door-to-door visits need a permit or have set hours before you start knocking.
Questions for the owner
- What license and insurance details should we put on the flyer and say at the door?
- Do you want a measured hail size or date of the storm on the flyer? We left the date out because you gave only "last weekend."
- Do you want a second phone number or an email on the flyer?
