Customer Artwork File Check for Print Readiness
Checks each file a customer sends against your shop's own file requirements and the final size of the sign, then writes a clear message telling the customer what is ready, what needs a fix, and what you still need from them.
Before and after
Hi Marshall,
Thanks for sending your files for the two door decals on your red 2012 Mazda CX-9 (24 in x 12 in each) and the 4 ft x 2 ft yard sign. Here is where each file stands.
Needs a fix before we print
- tagline.pdf: The file type is fine and it is the right page size for the decals (24 x 12 in). The fonts are not outlined or embedded, and the file shows a font substitution warning. Our requirement is that text be outlined or fonts embedded, so we need a new copy of the PDF with the text outlined or the fonts embedded.
- CR logo web.png: PNG is an accepted file type, but at 600 x 300 px it is too small: 600 px divided by 24 in is 25 pixels per inch on the decals, and 600 px divided by 48 in is 12.5 pixels per inch on the yard sign, against our minimum of 150. To reach 150 pixels per inch it would need to be 3600 px wide for the decals and 7200 px wide for the yard sign, before adding bleed. The logo also has a solid white box behind it and soft edges, so we recommend sending the original logo file (AI, EPS, PDF, or SVG), or we can redraw it as clean vector art.
Cannot use as sent
- contact info.docx: We do not accept Word files. We have your text (Call Marshall 267-555-0193, 1150 Beechland Rd, Summerfield), so you do not need to resend it. Please just confirm that it is exactly what you want on the signs.
What we need from you
- A new tagline.pdf with outlined text or embedded fonts
- Your original logo file, or a yes from you that we should redraw it
- A reply confirming the contact text is correct
For the yard sign, our requirement is 0.125 in bleed on all sides, so any new files you send for it need to include that bleed.
Thank you,
Martha Pope

Questions for the owner
- What is the price and timing for a logo redraw?
- What is the date Marshall needs the decals and yard sign by?
- Do you want the customer to approve a proof before printing?
What it does
Checks each file a customer sends against your shop's own file requirements and the final size of the sign, then writes a clear message telling the customer what is ready, what needs a fix, and what you still need from them.
Use it when: Use when a sign shop needs to check a customer's logo or artwork files before printing, such as: check this logo, is this file good enough to print, will this artwork work, or review the files the customer sent.
