Before and after

BEFORE · what the owner typed
customer Ramona Whitaker wants a koi fish on her left outer forearm, about 3 inches tall, with the little scales and a line of japanese text under it, text is 4 characters, she wants it like 1/2 inch tall. color orange and black w blue water ripples. artist Reggie Woods looked at it. forearm is flat enough on outside, no scars or moles in the spot. the scales at 3 inches would blur together in a few yrs, I'd say go 5 inches min for the scales. 4 characters at half inch is ok if the strokes are simple, one of them is busy tho, needs about 3/4 inch. water ripples fine. orange will need a look in person bc her skin tone and want to see the stencil. she said she has a wrist crease thing where she wants the bottom of it, we want it a bit up from the wrist. shop is Brookhollow Tattoo, 2078 Winterhill St, Westdale, 267-555-0124. dont know her phone or when shes coming in
AFTER · what the skill produced

Hi Ramona,

Thanks for your request. Reggie Woods looked at your idea for a koi fish on your left outer forearm, about 3 inches tall, with 4 Japanese characters underneath and orange, black, and blue ripple colors. Here are our notes.

Works as requested

  • The outer forearm is flat enough for this design, and there are no scars or moles in the spot you picked.
  • The blue water ripples work at your size.
  • The 4 characters at about 1/2 inch tall work if the strokes stay simple.

We recommend adjusting

  • Koi size: at 3 inches, we recommend going to at least 5 inches tall, because the fine scales could blur together over the years at the smaller size.
  • One of the characters is more detailed than the others. We recommend making the text about 3/4 inch tall so that character stays clear.
  • Position: you mentioned a crease near your wrist where you wanted the bottom of the design. We recommend placing it a bit higher up the forearm, away from the wrist.

To confirm in person

  • The orange: Reggie wants to see it against your skin tone before we start.
  • Stencil: we will place a stencil on your arm so you can check the size and position before any tattooing begins.

These are our recommendations, and the final decision on size and placement is yours. If you prefer to keep your original request, we will note that as your choice. Questions? Call Brookhollow Tattoo at 267-555-0124, or stop by 2078 Winterhill St, Westdale.

Questions for the owner

  • What is Ramona's phone number or email for follow-up?
  • When is her appointment or consultation, and is there a deposit or price to include?

What it does

Turns the artist's observations about a requested design, body placement, and size into clear notes the customer can read. The notes say what should work as requested, what we recommend adjusting, and what to confirm in person before booking.

Use it when: Use when a tattoo shop needs to write feasibility notes on a customer's requested design, placement, and size, such as: "will this work on her forearm," "is this too small for that detail," "write up placement notes for this request," or "check this design against where they want it."
